How To Reach Jahan Kosha Cannon

By Air: The nearest major airport is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in Kolkata, which is approximately 200 KMS away. From the airport, visitors can hire a pre-paid taxi directly to Murshidabad (a drive of about 4-5 hours) or travel to Kolkata's major railway stations like Howrah (HWH) or Sealdah (SDAH) to catch a train. The aerial route is generally the starting point for international and distant domestic travelers.

By Train: The closest major railway station is Murshidabad Railway Station (MBB), which is well-connected by express and local trains from Kolkata and other major cities in West Bengal. The station is only about 6 KMS away from the cannon. Frequent trains like the Bhagirathi Express and Hazarduari Express run from Kolkata to Murshidabad. Upon arrival at Murshidabad Station, one can easily hire a cycle rickshaw, auto-rickshaw, or a toto (electric rickshaw) to reach the cannon's location in the Kadam Sharif area.

By Road: Murshidabad is accessible via National Highway 12 (NH 12). Regular bus services (both state and private) operate from Kolkata (around 220 KMS), Durgapur, and other major towns to Baharampur, the district headquarters, which is about 15 KMS from Murshidabad town. From Baharampur, local buses, taxis, or auto-rickshaws are available to travel to Murshidabad and the cannon site. For a more comfortable journey, private taxis can be hired from Kolkata for a direct trip.

By Local Transport: Once in Murshidabad town (specifically the Lalbagh/Cossimbazar area), the best way to reach the Jahan Kosha Cannon is by local transport.

Toto/Electric Rickshaw: This is the most popular and convenient option. Totos are readily available, and the ride from the main market area or the station to the cannon (Kadam Sharif) takes about 15-20 minutes.
