Dainthlen Falls

According to the Khasi legend, the 'thlen' was a giant serpent that terrorized the local people, demandin g human sacrifices. The brave ancestors of the Khasi people rose against the beast and killed it at this very spot. The numerous natural potholes on the rocks near the falls are believed to be the imprints of the epic battle. The waterfall itself is wide and powerful, though not as tall as Nohkalikai or Seven Sisters Falls. The water cascades over a wide, flat rock bed, creating a beautiful and serene view. The surrounding area is an open grassland, which makes it an ideal spot for a picnic. The sheer size of the falls and the dramatic rock formations make it a great subject for photography.
