The Torwa Chhath Ghat on the bank of the Arpa River in Bilaspur holds the distinction of being described as India's largest permanent Chhath Ghat. Spread over a massive area of approximately 7.5 to 8 acres, this ghat is not a temporary structure but a permanent civic infrastructure, unlike the makes hift arrangements often seen elsewhere. It features a long, permanent platform, reportedly about 1 KM in length, designed to accommodate tens of thousands of devotees (upwards of 50,000) simultaneously for the offering of Arghya to the Sun God during the holy festival of Chhath Puja. The sheer scale and thoughtful planning, including facilities for the massive influx of pilgrims from Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, make it a significant spiritual and engineering landmark. Even outside the festival, the picturesque location on the Arpa River bank makes it a unique confluence of faith, serenity, and tourism, drawing visitors for general sightseeing and relaxation.

By Air: The nearest airport is Swami Vivekananda International Airport (RPR), Raipur (approx. 120 KMS). From Raipur, take an inter-city bus or cab to Bilaspur, then local transport to Torwa :

By Train: The ghat is very close to the Bilaspur Junction Railway Station (approx. 2-3 KMS). Auto-rickshaws and cabs can reach the ghat in minutes :

By Road: Located in the Torwa area, it is easily reachable via Torwa Chowk. It is well-connected to the city's road network, making a self-drive or cab ride simple :

By Local Transport: Auto-rickshaws are the most common and convenient way to reach the ghat from the city center. The drivers are very familiar with the Torwa Chhath Ghat location.
