Reviews Of Sukhna Lake

Mohali, Chandigarh, India:
Design and Conception: Sukhna Lake is a beautiful, man-made reservoir at the foot of the Shivalik Hills in Chandigarh, established in 1958 by damming the seasonal stream, the Sukhna Choe. It is an integral part of the master plan for Chandigarh, conceived by the city's French architect, Le Corbusier , who envisioned it as the centre for the well-being and leisure pursuits of the residents. The lake stretches for about 3 square KMS and is famous for its placid, pristine blue water. It symbolizes the city's commitment to aesthetic and planned urban development, integrating nature with modern life. Role as a Cultural and Sports Hub: The lake is much more than a scenic spot; it is a major hub for recreational activities. It features one of India's longest rowing channels, which hosts significant events like the Asian Rowing Championships. The three-kilometre-long promenade along the lake is a favorite spot for morning joggers, walkers, and cyclists, offering a refreshing start to the day. The lake is also home to several species of fish and migratory birds (like the Siberian Duck and Crane) during the winter, making it a paradise for bird-watchers. The continuous upkeep and regulation (the concept of 'Le Corbusier's Law of Tranquility,' where noisy motorized boats are banned) maintain its serene character. (Word Count: ~400):
