Bindudham Temple

Sahibganj, Jharkhand, India
Bindudham, also known as Maa Binduvasini Mandir, is a significant religious site located atop the Binduvasini Hill in Barharwa. The temple is dedicated to the Tridevi—Maha Durga, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati—representing the cosmic feminine power. According to Hindu mythology, it is believe d that three drops of blood from Goddess Sati fell here during the Tandava of Lord Shiva, making it a sacred site equivalent to a Shaktipeeth. The name "Bindudham" refers to these "drops" (Bindu) of divinity. The temple complex is vast and houses several other shrines, including a magnificent 35-foot tall statue of Lord Hanuman and a unique depiction of Lord Surya (the Sun God) riding a seven-horse chariot. The location offers a panoramic view of the surrounding Rajmahal Hills and the distant plains, making it a place of both spiritual solace and natural beauty. Pilgrims from Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal visit this site throughout the year, especially during Navratri. The energy here is serene, punctuated by the sound of bells and hymns.
