Birsa Mrig Vihar
Birsa Mrig Vihar, commonly known as the Kalamati Deer Park, is a significant wildlife conservation and tourism site in the Khunti district. Established in 1982 and opened to the public in 1987, it spans over 54 acres of lush Sal forest. The park serves as a natural breeding center for two primary s pecies of deer: the Sambar and the Chital (Spotted Deer). The geography of the park, with its dense vegetation and natural water sources, provides an ideal habitat for these animals to thrive in semi-captivity. For visitors, the park offers a unique opportunity to see large herds of deer roaming freely within their enclosures. The site is exceptionally well-maintained by the Forest Department and features paved walking paths that wind through the woods.
