Dhanauri Wetlands
Dhanauri Wetlands is a sprawling ecological marvel located near Greater Noida, recognized as an Important Bird Area (IBA). Unlike many developed parks, Dhanauri remains a raw, natural marshland that provides a vital habitat for the Sarus Crane, the state bird of Uttar Pradesh. This site covers appr oximately 100 hectares and is a haven for birdwatchers and nature photographers. During the winter months, the wetlands transform into a busy hub for migratory birds arriving from Siberia and Central Asia. It is often praised for being more peaceful and less commercialized than the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. The vast expanse of reeds and shallow water supports over 200 species of birds, making it a critical site for conservation. Visitors can see the majestic cranes dancing in the fields, a sight that is rare in urbanized regions. The local villagers have a deep respect for the birds, often protecting their nesting sites. It is a place of serene beauty where the only sounds are the calls of waterbirds and the wind through the grass.
