Ghasera Fort

Sohna, Haryana, India
Ghasera Fort is a historical ruin located in the village of Ghasera, carrying the weight of 18th-century history. It was once the stronghold of the Bargurjar Rajputs and witnessed the fierce Battle of Ghasera in 1753. The fort was attacked by the Jat ruler Maharaja Suraj Mal, leading to a tragic ta le of sacrifice and Jauhar. Today, only the crumbling walls and a grand gateway stand as testimony to its glorious past. The fort is a protected monument under the Haryana government and attracts history enthusiasts. The village around the fort is predominantly inhabited by the Meo community, adding a unique cultural flavor. Visitors can see the remains of the old stone walls and the intricate brickwork of the past. It offers a panoramic view of the surrounding plains of the Mewat region. The site serves as a poignant reminder of the regional power struggles during the decline of the Mughal Empire. It is a quiet place, far removed from the modern developments of the nearby cities.
