The town changed hands multiple times between the French and the British during the 18th century before finally joining the Indian Union in 1954. This small coastal town is famous for its scenic beauty where the Mahe River meets the Arabian Sea. Geography and Culture: The town is divided into two distinct parts: the main Mahe town and the inland enclave of Naluthara consisting of four villages.
