How To Reach Annapurna Reservoir
Sircilla, Telangana, India
General Overview: Annapurna Reservoir, also known as the Ananthagiri Reservoir, is a significant part of the massive Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana. It serves as a vital water storage link between the Mid Manair and Ranganayaka Sagar reservoirs. Spread across a vast area, it has a capacity of nearly 3.5 TMC, providing water for irrigation and drinking to thousands of acres. The reservoir is not just a functional utility but has evolved into a major tourist destination due to its breathtaking views of blue water surrounded by lush green hillocks. Visitors often flock here to see the massive Ananthagiri Pump House, which is an engineering marvel located deep underground. The surrounding landscape features the Pochamma Temple, adding a spiritual touch to the natural beauty. The government has proposed developing this site into a world-class tourism hub with luxury resorts and water sports. The tranquility of the water body makes it a perfect weekend getaway for families from Karimnagar and Sircilla. Its serene environment is ideal for those looking to escape the hustle of city life and enjoy the fresh breeze. The project has also boosted local fisheries, creating a vibrant ecosystem. During the monsoon, the sight of water being pumped and the overflowing canals is truly majestic. It stands as a testament to modern engineering and the state's commitment to water conservation. Many tourists also visit the nearby Ananthagiri hills for a complete experience of nature and technology. The reservoir’s vast expanse creates a microclimate that is slightly cooler than the surrounding plains, making it a pleasant spot for evening strolls. It is a pride of the Rajanna Sircilla district.
