How To Reach Blue Lagoon Beach Cola

Canacona, Goa, India
Blue Lagoon Beach is a popular moniker for the area where the freshwater stream/creek flows from the hills and forms a clear, emerald-green lagoon right next to the Arabian Sea on Cola Beach. This unique geographical feature—a sweetwater lagoon separated from the saltwater sea by a narrow, tempora ry sandbar—is the beach's highlight. The lagoon's calm, non-tidal, and clear waters make it an ideal, safe spot for swimming, kayaking, and paddle-boating, offering a completely different experience from the rougher sea. The beach is relatively secluded, nestled between rocky cliffs and verdant hills, which adds to its 'hidden paradise' feel. Access is challenging, involving a bumpy dirt track or a boat ride, which naturally limits the crowds, preserving its tranquil ambiance. The presence of a few high-end, eco-friendly resorts and beach tents contributes to its exclusivity and romantic atmosphere. The golden sands, swaying palm trees, and the stunning contrast between the blue sea and the emerald lagoon create a breathtaking natural canvas, making it a photographer’s dream destination in South Goa for a peaceful, upscale beach experience.

How to Reach

By Air (Approx. 70 km) Fly into Dabolim International Airport (GOI). The most comfortable way is a pre-booked taxi (approx. 2 hours), specifying the destination as the Blue Lagoon Resort or Cola Beach parking area. Be prepared to change to a local 'track taxi' for the last 2-3 km due to the rough road. By Train (Approx. 35 km) The nearest major railway station is Margao (MAO), though Canacona (CNO, 18 km) is closer. From the station, a taxi or auto-rickshaw to the Cola Village main road is necessary, followed by the difficult drive down the unpaved road or a transfer to a 'track taxi. ' By Road (Self-Drive) If driving a scooter or 4x4, take the road towards Agonda and then follow the signs towards Cola Beach. The last 2-3 km is an extremely rough, steep, and winding dirt track, not suitable for low-clearance cars, demanding very cautious driving.

By Local Transport: The adventurous option is a boat taxi from the nearby Agonda Beach or Palolem Beach, which gives you a scenic sea view and avoids the bumpy road entirely. This option is slightly more expensive but highly recommended for its ease and experience.
