How To Reach Dalia Mini Waterfall
How to Reach
Connecting via Ranchi or Kolkata: The nearest major airport to Giridih is Birsa Munda Airport (IXR) in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, which is approximately 200 KMS away. A second, often more convenient, option for inter-state and international travelers is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in Kolkata, West Bengal, which is about 350 KMS away. From either airport, one must hire a private taxi for a direct road journey to Giridih (a 4-5 hour drive from Ranchi or a 7-8 hour drive from Kolkata), or take a connecting train to Giridih Railway Station.
By Train:
Direct Line to Giridih Railway Station: Giridih has its own dedicated railway station, Giridih Railway Station (GRD), which is the most convenient mode of transport. The station is well-connected by express and passenger trains from major cities like Kolkata (via the Shantiniketan Express or the Kolkata-Patna Slip Express), Patna, and other regional hubs. From Giridih Railway Station, the waterfall is easily accessible by a local transport option as it is only about 10-12 KMS away.
By Road:
National and State Highways Network: Giridih is well-connected by a network of National and State Highways. National Highway 114A and State Highways connect it to cities like Dhanbad (50 KMS), Bokaro, and Ranchi. Visitors can take private buses, state-run buses, or hire a taxi from these major cities directly to Giridih. The road journey to the waterfall from Giridih city centre is relatively smooth, though the last few kilometers into Khairidih will be on a smaller, potentially rough village road, requiring a sturdy vehicle.
By Local Transport:
Auto-Rickshaw or Hired Taxi: The final leg of the journey from Giridih city center or the railway station to the waterfall's starting point (Khairidih) is best completed via local transport. You can hire an auto-rickshaw or a private taxi for a round trip. It is highly recommended to negotiate the fare in advance and hire the vehicle for the entire trip, including the waiting time (2-3 hours), as public transport options are scarce near the waterfall itself. The journey takes approximately 30-45 minutes from the city center, depending on the road conditions, and the hired vehicle will drop you off at the point where the short trek to the falls begins.
