Its name is derived from the shape of a small drum, Dumboor, of Lord Shiva, which the lake is believed to resemble. The l ake is dotted with 48 small islets, and the surrounding hills are enchantingly emerald green, creating a captivating scenic spectacle. The lake is formed at the confluence of the Raima and Saima rivers. The Gomati River originates from this area, and the spot where it emerges is called Tirthamukh, a sacred pilgrimage site. The lake is a haven for migratory birds during the winter, attracting hundreds of different species and making it a delight for ornithologists and tourists alike. Boating facilities are available on the lake, and visitors can explore the various islets, including Narkel Kunja, which has been developed for tourism. Dumbur Lake is located about 63 km from Udaipur. The best way to reach is by hiring a private car or taxi, which takes about 2-3 hours. The roads can be a bit rough, so it's advisable to check the conditions beforehand.
