It is a key junction on the vehicle-free roads of the hill station, bustling with activity. Key Features: It acts as a central node, connecting the market area with the trails leading to various viewpoints. It is characterized by the constant movement of horses and hand-pulled rickshaws. The area is flat and serves as a natural gathering point for tourists and local service providers. Though it doesn't have the famous black horse statue of Mumbai, the name is often used informally for this busy horse-riding center.

How to Reach

By Air: Nearest airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), Mumbai (100 KMS away). From the airport, take a taxi or train to Neral.

By Train: Nearest major station is Neral Railway Station. Take the Matheran Hill Railway (Toy Train) from Neral to Matheran Station (0. 5 KMS from the chowk).

By Road: Drive up to Dasturi Naka (9 KMS from Neral). From Dasturi, hire a pony or walk to the point (3 KMS). No vehicles are allowed past Dasturi Naka.

Local Transport: The chowk is within easy walking distance from the Matheran Market and Matheran Railway Station. Use a horse/pony for onward travel to viewpoints.
