General Overview: Kunchikal Falls is widely recognized as the highest tiered waterfall in India, cascading down from a staggering height of 455 meters (1,493 feet). Formed by the Varahi River, it is located amidst the lush, evergreen forests of the Western Ghats near Masthikatte. To visit the falls, one often needs to obtain a gate pass or special permission from the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) as it falls within a restricted zone. By Road: Drive from Shimoga towards Thirthahalli, then take the road to Masthikatte. It's a 3-hour drive.

By Air: Mangalore International Airport is about 138 KMS away.

By Train: Udupi Railway Station is the nearest at 88 KMS.

By Local Transport: Private taxis are the best option as public buses to the falls are infrequent.
