How To Reach Mallikarjun Temple
Canacona, Goa, India:
The Shri Mallikarjun Temple is an important Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Mallikarjun, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is situated in the peaceful Sristhal village, northeast of Canacona town. The current temple structure dates back to 1778, although the original shrine is believed to be much old er, possibly from the 16th Century. The temple is renowned for its unique blend of traditional Hindu and local Goan architectural styles. The interior features beautifully carved wooden columns and pillars that depict scenes from the Puranas and the epic Mahabharata. The deity is highly revered locally as Adavat Sinhasanadhishwar Mahapati Canacona. It is a place of great spiritual importance and a central hub for vibrant annual festivals, making it a peaceful and culturally rich visit away from the beaches.

How to Reach

By Air: Fly to Goa International Airport (Dabolim - GOI), approximately 70 KMS away. Hire a taxi to Sristhal village (approx. Rs.1,900).

By Train: The nearest station is Canacona Railway Station (CNO), about 7 KMS away. Madgaon Junction (MAO) is about 40 KMS away. From Canacona, hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi to Sristhal village (approx. Rs.200).

By Road: Take a bus to Canacona Bus Stand. From there, hire a local auto-rickshaw or taxi to Sristhal village, following the inland route northeast of Canacona town. The roads are well-maintained.

By Local Transport: An auto-rickshaw or rental scooter is the most flexible option for the short journey from Canacona or Palolem.
