How to Reach

By Air: The travel itinerary starts by flying to Guwahati (GAU, 170 KMS) or Shillong (SHL, 103 KMS). A private taxi or shared cab is the only final mode of transport to reach the village. It is essential to inform the homestay host of the expected arrival time to ensure a smooth transition from the parking area.

By Train: Disembark at Guwahati Railway Station (GHY, 170 KMS). The onward journey to the Khasi Hills requires a road trip to Shillong and then to Mawlynnong. Guests must coordinate with their host, as homestays are often tucked away on small residential lanes, requiring specific directions from the main road.

By Road: Mawlynnong is accessed primarily by road from Shillong (78 KMS) or as part of the Dawki day trip circuit. The homestays are scattered throughout the residential areas. Upon reaching the village's entrance gate/parking area, the host will usually meet the guests or provide clear walking instructions. The journey by road is highly scenic, passing through dense forests and small settlements.

By Local Transport: Homestays are accessed entirely on foot, traversing the village's paved walkways and smaller, clean residential paths. There is no internal vehicle transport. Luggage is usually carried personally, though a local person can be hired to assist with heavier bags.
