Geographical Link: The pass is a major geographical feature that separates the Sonamarg Valley from the high alpine meadows and lakes (like Vishansar and Krishnasar) of the Kashmir region; the view from the Drass side offers a distinct perspective of the Trans-Himalayan terrain that transitions into the greener Kashmir peaks. Trek Logistics and Difficulty: The view/access is primarily for experienced trekkers using Drass as a starting base for the Amarnath Trek or other major high-altitude routes that link to the KGL circuit's eastern flank; the approach is rugged, difficult, and requires high-altitude acclimatization and proper permits.

How to Reach

By Air: Nearest airport is Srinagar International Airport (SXR), approx. 100 KMS from the general access area; a hired taxi from the airport to the Drass base camp is the most convenient way to begin the journey.

By Train: Nearest major railhead is Jammu Tawi (JAT), approx. 380 KMS away; a multi-stage journey via bus/taxi through Srinagar is required to reach the Drass trekking area.

By Road: Access is via the Srinagar-Leh Highway (NH1D), past Drass town and towards the Zoji La Pass; one needs to take a diversion towards Minamarg or other known base camps for the view/access point, which involves a challenging, unpaved high-altitude road.

By Local Transport: A private or shared taxi from Drass town to the designated starting point (e. g. , Minamarg) is necessary; ensure the vehicle is a high-clearance 4x4, as the mountain roads are rugged and require experienced drivers.
