How To Reach Siliserh Lake Palace
The Siliserh Lake Palace is a picturesque historical retreat situated on the banks of the expansive Siliserh Lake, approximately 13 KMS from the main city of Alwar. The palace and the lake were commissioned by Maharaja Vinay Singh in 1845 AD. The lake, covering an area of about 7 square KMS, was ori ginally constructed to provide a permanent water source for the city of Alwar. The beautiful palace was built as a royal hunting lodge and a luxurious residence for his beloved wife, Queen Shila. Today, the Siliserh Lake Palace has been converted into a heritage hotel managed by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC). The palace stands out with its majestic architecture, featuring domes, arched windows, and balconies that overlook the tranquil waters of the lake and the surrounding lush green Aravalli hills. This scenic spot is a famous tourist destination, providing a peaceful escape from the bustling city life. Visitors come here primarily to enjoy the natural beauty, the serene atmosphere, and the activities offered on the lake. By Air:
The nearest major airports are Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in New Delhi (approx. 165 KMS) and Jaipur International Airport (JAI) (approx. 150 KMS).
- From Airport: From the airport, one must take a taxi, private cab, or use bus/train services to reach Alwar city first, then take local transport to the lake.
By Train: The most convenient railway station is Alwar Junction (AWR).
- From Station to Lake: Siliserh Lake Palace is about 14-16 KMS from the station. The best way to cover this distance is by hiring a local taxi or a pre-booked cab. An auto-rickshaw may also agree to the trip, but ensure the fare is fixed beforehand, as it is a significant distance outside the city. The ride takes around 25-30 minutes.
