How To Reach Stone Bridge

The Stone Bridge at Thlumuwi is a remarkable historical monument that showcases the engineering skills of the ancient Jaintia people. Built over the Muwi stream, this bridge was part of the royal path used by the Jaintia Kings during their journeys between their summer capital in Nartiang and winter capital in Jaintiapur. The bridge is constructed entirely of massive granite slabs, placed without the use of modern mortar. It has stood the test of time, surviving centuries of heavy monsoons and geological shifts. Standing on the bridge, one can imagine the royal processions of elephants and soldiers that once crossed this very spot. Adjacent to the bridge is the beautiful Thlumuwi Falls, which adds to the scenic charm of the location. The area is surrounded by megaliths and stone markers, indicating its importance in the ancient kingdom. It is a quiet spot, often overlooked by tourists rushing to Krang Suri, making it a peaceful place for history buffs. By Road: Located on the main Jowai-Amlarem highway, easily accessible by any vehicle.
