How To Reach Table Land

Panchgani, Maharashtra, India
Table Land is an awe-inspiring geological formation and is considered the highest point in Panchgani, sitting at an elevation of approximately 4,550 feet (1,329 meters) above sea level. Geologically, it is a vast expanse of flat, laterite volcanic rock that covers an area of about 99 acres. It hold s the distinction of being the second-largest mountain plateau in Asia after the Tibetan Plateau. This immense flatland offers a unique, almost unreal landscape that contrasts sharply with the deep valleys and hills that surround it. The sheer size of the plateau makes it a major recreational and sightseeing hub. Due to its elevation, it provides unobstructed, 360-degree views of the entire Panchgani town and the surrounding Krishna Valley. The plateau is also linked to ancient Indian mythology, as it is believed that the Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata resided here for a time, with the adjacent Devil's Kitchen being their cooking place. The surface is hard and barren for the most part, but patches of short grass grow, especially during the monsoon season, which transform it into a vibrant green carpet. It acts as a natural wall, protecting the hill station and providing an ideal location for outdoor activities and simple sightseeing.
