How To Reach Tiger Cave

Panchgani, Maharashtra, India
Tiger Cave is a small yet fascinating natural cave system located on the edge of the expansive Table Land plateau in Panchgani. It is part of the famous formation often associated with the nearby Devil's Kitchen (also known as Pandavgad Caves), which is linked to the Pandavas' mythological exile. W hile relatively small, the cave is a popular spot because of its secluded location and the stunning panoramic valley views it offers from its entrance. The descent to the cave is often steep, involving a number of steps carved into the rock, which adds a sense of adventure to the visit. The cave's interior is cool and dark, prompting some visitors to use flashlights for exploration. In recent years, a small, rustic open-air café has sprung up near the cave, serving simple refreshments like Maggi, tea, and snacks, which adds to the charm of the spot. The caves themselves are formed by the laterite rock of the plateau. The walk or horse ride across Table Land to reach the cave is an experience in itself, passing over the vast flat terrain. The cave's location on the plateau's edge provides a unique perspective of the rugged hillside and the valley below, distinguishing it from other viewpoints. It's an excellent spot for a short, adventurous break, especially for families with children who enjoy a little exploration and mythological history.

By Local Transport: Once at the main activity area of Table Land, the best way to reach Tiger Cave is via a local horse ride (with a guide) across the plateau, which takes around 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, it is a moderate, enjoyable 30-40 minute walk across the flat expanse of the plateau. Local auto-rickshaws or taxis can drop you at the Table Land toll booth.
