How To Reach Tura Golf Course

Tura, Meghalaya, India
Nature's Green Fairway in the Hills: The Tura Golf Course is an existing, but often less-advertised or rudimentary, golfing facility primarily used by local administration, military personnel, and enthusiastic local golfers. It is situated on the naturally rolling terrain of the Tura hills, utilizin g the high-altitude landscape to create a challenging yet scenic environment for the sport. Unlike professional championship courses, it's typically a basic, 9-hole layout that focuses more on the natural beauty and tranquility of the surroundings rather than highly manicured greens and extensive clubhouse facilities. The high elevation provides a cool climate throughout the year, making it comfortable for a round of golf even when the plains are hot. The setting amidst the lush, forested hills of the Garo Hills offers panoramic views that are a key attraction for visitors. The course's existence emphasizes the colonial legacy of sports and recreation in hill stations. For most tourists, it's a spot for a quiet walk, to witness a unique high-altitude sports facility, and to simply enjoy the expansive, open greenery.:

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) in Guwahati, Assam (Approx. 220 KMS). From Guwahati, hire a taxi or take a shared taxi (sumo service) directly to Tura. The journey can take around 6-7 hours.

By Train: The closest major railway station is Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) (Assam) (Approx. 220 KMS). From the station, take a bus or a private vehicle to Tura.

By Road: Tura is well-linked by road. From Tura town center, the golf course is located on a relatively high, isolated road. It is best reached by hiring a local taxi or an auto-rickshaw specifically for the trip, as shared transport may not go directly to the entrance. The journey from the main town takes about 15-20 minutes. The last stretch of road leading up to the course may be less maintained, so a sturdy vehicle is advisable.

By Local Transport: A dedicated local taxi is the most reliable way to reach this spot. Negotiate a return fare or ask the driver to wait, as finding a return vehicle from the isolated location can be challenging. :
