Kabi Lungchok
Kabi Lungchok is perhaps the most historically significant site in all of Sikkim. It is the hallowed ground where the 'Treaty of Blood Brotherhood' was signed in the 13th century between the Lepcha Chief, Thekong Tek, and the Bhutia Prince, Khye Bumsa. This pact laid the foundation for the harmonio us co-existence of these two major ethnic groups. The site is located within a dense, ancient forest that is considered a "Sacred Grove." Here, nature and history are inextricably linked. The grove is filled with massive trees, including Alnus and Michelia, which have stood for centuries. The actual spot of the treaty is marked by stone pillars (Lungchok) and life-sized statues of the two leaders.
