Kalipur Beach

Diglipur, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India
Kalipur Beach is a tranquil stretch of brown and grayish volcanic sand and rock shores situated on the eastern coast of North Andaman. It is renowned across the islands, not for its sand color, but for its crucial ecological role as a major sea turtle nesting ground. Between the months of December a nd March, four different species of sea turtles—Olive Ridley, Leather Back, Hawksbill, and Green Turtles—arrive here to lay their eggs. The forest department maintains a hatchery and monitoring unit to protect the nests, offering visitors a chance to witness the natural phenomenon of eggs being laid or hatchlings being released into the sea, under strict supervision. The beach also features eco-friendly amenities like huts and watchtowers, and it offers a picturesque view of Saddle Peak, the archipelago's highest point.
