It is not possible to visit the main complex outside of these hours as the area is secured by the ASI. Ideal Visit Time (Best Light and Crowds) The ideal visit time is early in the morning, immediately after opening (around 9:00 AM), on a weekday. The morning light enhances the interior of the main chaitya, and the crowds, especially those going to the temple, are thinner. Temple Peak Timings (Avoid) Avoid visiting on major Hindu festival days or during the peak hours of the Ekvira Devi Temple (usually midday and weekends), as the steps can become extremely congested.Special Events:

The entire complex is decorated, and massive crowds of devotees, especially from the Koli community, gather to offer prayers, turning the area into a vibrant, high-energy festival site.
Buddhist Purnima (Vesak) Gatherings: On days like Buddha Purnima (Vesak) (usually in May), the caves, while less crowded than the Hindu festival, see a special gathering of Buddhist monks and followers who perform prayers and ceremonies, highlighting the site's original religious purpose. Local Annual Jatras (Fairs) The local communities near the caves occasionally hold annual jatras or village fairs, often tied to a harvest or religious cycle. These events showcase regional folk music, drama, and food, offering an authentic, rural cultural experience.Best Photo Spots:
