Kasbeswari Kali Temple

Sepahijala, Tripura, India
Kasbeswari Kali Temple, also known as the Kamalasagar Kali Temple, is a historic site situated on a hillock overlooking the majestic Kamalasagar Lake. Built in the 15th century by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, the temple holds immense religious and historical significance for the people of Tripura and n eighboring Bangladesh. Interestingly, the idol inside the temple is that of Goddess Durga (Mahishasurmardini), but it is worshipped as Goddess Kali. The temple sits right on the edge of the Indo-Bangladesh border, providing a unique geographical experience where visitors can see the barbed wire fence and the railway station of Bangladesh from the temple premises. The environment is incredibly peaceful, with the vast expanse of the lake reflecting the sky and the temple's red structure. Every year, thousands of devotees flock here during the festivals to seek blessings. The temple complex is well-maintained and provides a panoramic view of the surrounding greenery. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present, showcasing the architectural brilliance of the Manikya Dynasty. The presence of the Border Security Force (BSF) adds a layer of disciplined atmosphere to the site. It is not just a place of worship but a symbol of the shared heritage of the Bengal region.
