Kurma Waterfall
Kurma Waterfall is a hidden natural treasure nestled deep within the Rajkandi reserve forest area. This multi-tiered waterfall is one of the most beautiful and least-explored spots near Kailashahar. The water cascades down a series of rocky steps, creating small natural pools at each level where vi sitors can dip their feet. The journey to the waterfall is an adventure in itself, involving a short trek through dense forest trails filled with the sound of gushing water and chirping birds. Unlike larger commercial waterfalls, Kurma offers a pristine and untouched environment, far away from the commercial tourist trail. The surrounding rocks are covered in thick green moss, and the air is noticeably cooler near the falls. It is a perfect spot for those who seek solace in nature and want to experience the raw beauty of Tripura's highlands. The waterfall is at its most powerful during the monsoon, but it remains a scenic spot throughout the winter months as well. Local legends say the waterfall was named after the 'Kurma' (Tortoise) incarnation of Lord Vishnu, owing to the shape of some rocks at the base. Whether you are an avid trekker or a casual nature lover, the trek to Kurma Waterfall provides a refreshing break and a sense of discovery that is hard to find in more developed tourist destinations.
