Nrityagram, meaning "dance village," is a unique community dedicated to the classical Indian dance form of Odissi. Founded by the late Protima Gauri Bedi, it's a residential school where students learn and practice Odissi in a gurukul (traditional residential school) setting. The architecture of Nr ityagram is inspired by traditional Indian village design, with mud huts and open spaces creating a serene and artistic environment. Visitors can witness dance rehearsals, interact with the dancers and teachers (with prior permission or during specific events), and learn about the philosophy and practice of Odissi. The annual dance festival, Vasanta Habba, held at Nrityagram, attracts renowned dancers and musicians from across India and is a major cultural event.
