Pradhyuman Zoological Park
Pradhyuman Zoological Park, popularly known as the Rajkot Zoo, is spread over a massive 137 acres of land near Lalpari Lake. It was relocated to this modern, naturalistic site in 2010 to provide a better habitat for animals and a superior experience for visitors. The zoo is maintained by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park features over 35,000 trees, creating a micro-forest environment within the city. Major attractions include the Asiatic Lion, Tigers, Leopards, and various species of deer like the Chinkara and Blackbuck. The zoo is designed with large, open enclosures that mimic the natural habitats of the animals rather than traditional cages. The proximity to Lalpari and Randarda lakes makes it a hotspot for migratory birds, especially during the colder months. For the convenience of visitors, especially senior citizens, the zoo provides battery-operated golf carts. There are also well-maintained cafes, drinking water facilities, and resting sheds throughout the park. It serves as an educational hub, teaching children and adults about wildlife conservation and the importance of biodiversity.
