Rameshwar Dam

Medininagar, Jharkhand, India
Rameshwar Dam is a popular getaway for the residents of Medininagar and nearby towns. It is a man-made reservoir primarily built for irrigation and flood control, but it has evolved into a significant local tourism spot. The dam is surrounded by low-lying hills and small patches of forest, making i t an ideal location for a day out. During the winter months, the calm blue waters of the reservoir attract several species of migratory birds. The area around the dam is well-maintained and provides a peaceful environment for family outings. It is especially crowded during the New Year season when people come for traditional "Van Bhoj" or forest picnics. The dam's spillway is a sight to behold during the peak monsoon when the excess water creates a mini-waterfall effect. The sunset over the reservoir is one of the most photographed scenes in the district. It provides a perfect blend of utility and natural beauty.
