Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is a small but significant bird sanctuary situated on the banks of the Cauvery River. It comprises several small islands that serve as nesting grounds for a variety of resident and migratory birds, including painted storks, Asian openbill storks, white ibises, spoonbill s, egrets, herons, and kingfishers. Boat rides are available, offering excellent opportunities for birdwatching and photography. The sanctuary is a haven for ornithologists and nature lovers, especially during the nesting season (June to November).
