Ranjit Villas Palace

Rajkot, Gujarat, India
A Royal Masterpiece: Ranjit Villas Palace is a stunning heritage monument located on a hill overlooking the town of Wankaner, near Rajkot. Built in 1907 by Maharaja Amar Singhji, it was named after his close friend Jam Ranjitsinhji of Jamnagar. The palace is a magnificent example of the eclectic arc hitectural tastes of the Indian royalty during the early 20th century. Spanning over 225 acres, the estate includes a watchtower, horse stables, and a vintage car collection. While it remains a private residence for the royal family, parts of the palace have been converted into a museum open to the public. It houses an incredible collection of royal artifacts, including silver furniture, hunting trophies, and traditional weapons. The palace’s location on Gadhio Hill provides a panoramic view of the Machchhu River and the surrounding plains. It serves as a living museum of the Jhala dynasty's history and their contribution to the region. The grandeur of the palace reflects the era of the Princely States of India before independence.
