Overview: Ratneshwar Dham, situated in the Shivpur region of Godda, is arguably the most popular and culturally significant religious site within the city. The name 'Ratneshwar' itself is derived from the word 'Ratna' (gem), signifying the precious nature of the deity. The temple complex is expansive, featuring several smaller shrines dedicated to various gods and goddesses, including Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha. The site is particularly famous for its 'Shivganga'—a sacred pond where devotees take a ritual dip before offering prayers. During the holy month of Sawan, the temple witnesses an extraordinary influx of 'Kanwariyas' who walk long distances to perform 'Jalabhishek'. The entire area resonates with the sounds of devotional songs and bells during this period.
