Shanigaram Waterfall

Karimnagar, Telangana, India
Shanigaram Waterfall is a beautiful, lesser-known attraction located near the historic Shanigaram Reservoir. This waterfall is essentially a "surplus" fall, created when the reservoir reaches its full capacity and the water overflows through the check dams and rocky channels. The sight of water gus hing over the wide rocky terrain is spectacular. Unlike vertical drops, this waterfall spreads across a large area, creating multiple streams and small cascades. The area is steeped in history, as the reservoir itself was constructed during the Nizam era in the late 19th century. The combination of historical engineering and natural water flow makes it a unique spot. The surrounding area is very peaceful, with large trees providing ample shade for visitors. It is a popular spot for local villagers to wash and relax, and it has recently gained popularity among city dwellers as a "hidden beach" or "mini-beach" because of the sandy deposits near the water flow. It's an ideal spot for a quick half-day trip to enjoy the water without the crowd of more famous falls.
