Parking Charges (Nominal/Seasonal): During non-peak season and regular weekdays, there might be minimal or no charge for vehicle parking. However, the outer complex and grounds are often accessible 24 hours a day. The main temple doors may close in the afternoon for a break (bhog or vishram) between approximately 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Aarti (prayer) times are typically early morning (6:30 AM) and evening (6:00 PM).
Ideal Visit Time (Best Experience): The Ideal Time to Visit is early in the morning (6:00 AM to 9:00 AM) or late in the afternoon (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM). Early morning offers a calm, spiritual atmosphere for meditation and avoids the mid-day heat. The late afternoon allows for viewing the evening aarti and catching the sunset over the valley. Avoid Midday when the heat is intense and the main temple might be closed.
Festival Timings: During the Paush Purnima Mela, the timings are extended, with the complex remaining active late into the night. Special pujas often begin before dawn, requiring an earlier arrival. Check local schedules during the December-January fair.Special Events:

The fair attracts a very large crowd of devotees from all over Chhattisgarh and neighboring states. During the mela, the entire area comes alive with religious discourse, traditional folk songs, dances, local markets, and community feasts (bhandaras). It is a major pilgrimage event centered around the Valmiki Ashram and the sacred spring.
Ram Navami and Janmashtami Celebrations: As the birthplace of Lav-Kush and the abode of the Ramayana composer, festivals related to Lord Rama (Ram Navami in March-April) and Lord Krishna (Janmashtami in August-September) are celebrated with special pujas and fervor, drawing focused crowds for specific devotional rituals.
The Ram Van Gaman Path Yatra Stop: When official state or community yatras (pilgrimages) are organized along the Ram Van Gaman Path, Turturiya Dham serves as a major, formalized stop. These events bring high-profile dignitaries and a focused, organized group of pilgrims, transforming the site into a major cultural and state-level event, often with cultural programs.Best Photo Spots:

Use a wide-angle lens to capture the water flow, the ancient stone, and the surrounding lush forest backdrop in a single frame. The early morning light is ideal to capture the mist and the green moss on the rocks.
The Aamla Tree and Sita’s Hut: Locate the large, ancient Aamla (Indian Gooseberry) tree on the Ashram grounds, which is often revered as a symbol of the site's antiquity. Photograph the tree with the Ashram's main shrine or a humble hut (symbolizing Sita Mata's stay) in the background to capture the mythological and natural essence.
The Entrance Toran: The main entrance Toran (archway), often decorated with religious motifs or an image of Maharshi Valmiki and Lav-Kush, is the perfect spot for a clear 'I was here' photograph, establishing the location's identity.
The Ashram's Courtyard in the Evening: The simple architecture and the quiet courtyard of the Ashram are best photographed at dusk, using the soft light of lamps or the golden hour to convey a sense of peace, ancient history, and spiritual warmth. Capture the silhouettes of pilgrims.
The Female Priestesses: Respectfully request permission to photograph the traditional female priestesses performing their duties, offering a powerful, unique cultural portrait that is distinctive to Turturiya Dham.Photo Gallery
Things To Do
-
Perform Holy Darshan and Rituals: The primary activity is visiting the main shrines. Begin with the Valmiki Ashram for darshan (viewing) of the deities and the symbolic birthplace of Lav and Kush. Participate in the morning or evening aarti (prayers). Seek blessings from the traditional female priestesses. Offer simple prayers and prasad (offerings) as a mark of respect. This fulfills the main purpose of the religious pilgrimage.
Meditate in the Peaceful Surroundings: Find a quiet spot within the Ashram grounds or under a tree to practice meditation and reflection. The surrounding jungle and the ancient atmosphere make it an ideal setting for introspection and spiritual calm, connecting with the energy of Maharshi Valmiki’s ancient Tapobhoomi.

The buildings are constructed from stone and brick, utilizing a simple, durable style that prioritizes function for devotees and residential quarters for the resident priests. The main temple or shrine housing the deities and the supposed birthplace of Lav-Kush may follow the basic principles of Nagara style found in the region, featuring a small central Vimana (tower) and a Mandapa (hall), though on a modest scale. -
