Like other sacred rivers, the Surasuri Ganga spring sees a large number of devotees gathering for a holy dip (snan) at the confluence or the Kunda. Taking a bath on this auspicious day is considered highly meritorious.
Monsoon Waterfall Rituals: While not a formal mela, the period of the heaviest monsoon (July to September) is a special, natural event where the water flow is at its maximum, creating a stunning visual and auditory spectacle. Many locals come during this time to offer quiet prayers, appreciating the full power and bounty of the Surasuri Ganga.
Annual Water Tank Cleaning Day: In a tradition of community service (seva), the local villagers and Ashram management often dedicate a day to collectively clean the ancient Kunda (water tank) near the Gomukh. This is a special, organized event of community participation, ensuring the water body remains clean and pristine for all pilgrims.Best Photo Spots:

The Pool Reflections: In the morning before crowds gather, photograph the still water of the ancient Kunda. Capture the reflection of the surrounding trees or the rock face on the calm water surface.
The Gomukh Close-up: A detailed close-up shot of the sculpted Gomukh from which the water emerges is essential. Focus on the stone carving, the constant drip of water, and the ancient brickwork behind it to highlight the blend of human and natural engineering.
Picnic Spot Ambience: Capture the joyful, relaxed atmosphere of families enjoying a picnic by the stream. Focus on the interaction and the sense of natural enjoyment, with the gentle stream running in the background.
The Hero Stones in Context: Photograph the ancient hero stones (warrior sculptures) near the pool, framed by the flowing water or the jungle, which places these historical artifacts in their natural and sacred context.Photo Gallery
Things To Do
-
Take a Holy Dip in the Kunda: The most essential activity is bathing in the ancient, brick-lined Kunda (pool) where the holy water from the Gomukh (Cow's Mouth) collects. The water is considered sacred and pure, earning it the name Surasuri Ganga. A dip here is believed to cleanse sins and purify the spirit. Separate bathing areas are usually demarcated for men and women.
Witness the 'Tur-Tur' Phenomenon: Spend time near the spring to hear the unique 'tur-tur' or 'tutur' sound made by the water as it gushes through the rock formations of the Balbhadri Nalla. This natural, acoustic phenomenon is the namesake of the entire region and is fascinating to observe and listen to.

The Gomukh and Kunda: The water emerges from a narrow passage in the rock. An artificial Gomukh (Cow's Mouth) has been constructed from which the water falls. The water collects in a brick-lined, ancient bathing Kunda (pool/tank).
The Dimension Estimate: The Kunda is typically rectangular, estimated to be around 15-20 feet in length and 10-15 feet in width, with a depth of approximately 3-4 feet, allowing for ritual bathing by groups of pilgrims. The ancient bricks and remnants suggest the structure's original dimensions might have been part of a larger, earlier bathing complex. -
