Unakotiswara Kal Bhairava

This massive rock-cut head of Lord Shiva is one of the largest bas-relief sculptures in India, standing at a staggering height of 30 feet. The face of the deity is carved with imm ense detail, featuring a third eye on the forehead and a magnificent headdress that is 10 feet tall. On either side of the central Shiva head, there are two full-size female figures—one representing Goddess Durga standing on a lion and another female deity. The expression on the face of Kal Bhairava is one of serene yet powerful divinity, capturing the essence of Shiva as the supreme protector. This specific carving is the primary destination for pilgrims who visit Unakoti to seek blessings and perform rituals.
