Detailed Description: The Wayanad Churam, also known as the Thamarassery Ghat, is a legendary stretch of road that connects the plains of Kozhikode to the hills of Wayanad. It consists of 9 hairpin bends, each offering a progressively more spectacular view of the valley below. The primary viewpoint is located near the top, after the 9th hairpin bend. From here, you can see the winding road slithering through the dense forest like a giant serpent. The air turns misty and cool as you ascend, providing an instant escape from the tropical heat of the plains. Adivaram is the village at the foothills where travelers usually stop for a break before starting the climb. The history of this road is fascinating, involving a local tribal youth named Karinthandan who showed the route to the British and was later betrayed. The "Chain Tree" nearby is part of this legend. For travelers in December, the Churam is a magical place where the sun rays pierce through thick morning fog. It is not just a road but a destination in itself, often crowded with tourists who park their vehicles to enjoy the breeze and the monkeys that inhabit the area.
