Weather and Best Time to Visit
Peak Summer: June to August is the ideal time to visit Diskit and the Nubra Valley. The weather is at its best, and the Khardung La pass is easily traversable. This is also the time when the camel safaris and other tourist activities are in full swing. The valley is vibrant and bustling with travelers from all over the world.
Autumn Charm: September and October offer a different kind of beauty as the leaves of the poplar trees turn golden. The air is crisp and clear, providing excellent views of the distant peaks. It is a great time for photography and peaceful exploration as the summer crowds begin to thin out. The temperature starts to dip, so carry extra layers of clothing.
Different Parts of the Day: Sunrise is spectacular at the Maitreya Buddha statue, with the light hitting the golden figure first. Sunset is also a magical time, as the entire valley is bathed in a warm orange glow. During the day, you can explore the cooler interiors of the monastery. Nighttime in Diskit is perfect for stargazing due to the minimal light pollution in the valley.
