Anjaneya Hill
Anjaneya Hill, also known as Anjanadri Hill, is revered as the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, the monkey deity. To reach the white-washed temple at the summit, visitors must climb exactly 575 steps carved into the rock. The climb is challenging but rewarding, offering the most spectacular 360-degree p anoramic view of the entire Hampi landscape. From the top, one can see the winding Tungabhadra River, vast stretches of green paddy fields, and the endless sea of boulders and ruins. The temple itself is modest, housing an idol of Hanuman carved on a rock, along with shrines for Rama and Sita. A continuous chanting of "Ram-Ram" often echoes through the temple, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The hill is also home to hundreds of monkeys, considered to be the descendants of Hanuman's army. Watching the sunset from this height is a spiritual experience for many and a visual feast for others. It is a central part of the Ramayana circuit in India. The breeze at the top is incredibly refreshing, providing relief after the strenuous climb. It is recommended to start the ascent in the late afternoon to catch the sunset.
