Bharat Yatra Kendra
Bharat Yatra Kendra is a massive 600-acre ashram and nature retreat established by the former Prime Minister of India, Chandra Shekhar, in 1983. It is located in the Bhondsi village area, nestled at the foothills of the Aravallis. The center was originally envisioned as a place for social work and rural development. Today, it is a serene sanctuary featuring the beautiful Bhuvaneshwari Devi Temple, a giant statue of Lord Shiva, and a large Gaushala (cow shelter). The area is covered in dense forest, making it feel like a hill station in Himachal rather than a suburb of Delhi. It is a major spot for trekking, with several trails winding through the hills and leading to a seasonal lake. The center promotes organic farming and simple living. Visitors often come here to escape the city's noise, enjoy the fresh air, and witness the spectacular sunrise from the hilltops. The presence of numerous peacocks and migratory birds adds to its natural charm.
