Chaprot Reservoir
Chaprot Reservoir is a man-made water body located atop the Siyuri Dhar mountain range, overlooking the Joginder Nagar valley. It serves as the balancing reservoir for the Bassi Power House, holding the water that is eventually funneled down through massive penstocks to drive the turbines below. Th e reservoir is a marvel of early to mid-20th-century engineering, situated at a significant elevation to create the necessary hydraulic head. Beyond its industrial utility, Chaprot is a popular destination for its panoramic views and peaceful environment. On clear days, one can see the entire expanse of the valley, including the Shanan Power House and distant mountain peaks. The road to Chaprot is narrow and winding, passing through beautiful pine forests. There is a government rest house nearby, which provides a scenic spot for a short break.
