Dabbe Falls
Dabbe Falls is one of the most secluded and enchanting waterfalls in the Western Ghats, specifically located near Sagar. The name 'Dabbe' in the local language translates to 'steps,' which perfectly describes the way the water plunges down multiple rocky ledges. Standing at a height of about 110 me ters, it is a vertical drop that creates a misty atmosphere at the base. To reach the falls, one must undertake a challenging trek through dense shola forests and steep descents. This is not a typical tourist spot; it is a destination for the hardcore adventurer. The trek path is often slippery and requires holding onto tree roots for balance. Once you reach the bottom, the sight of the water crashing into a deep pool is magnificent. The area is part of the Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary, meaning you are surrounded by rich biodiversity, including rare birds and butterflies. Unlike other commercial waterfalls, Dabbe Falls remains raw and untouched. There are no railings or paved paths here, just the pure, unadulterated beauty of nature. The sound of the falls can be heard from miles away, acting as a guide for trekkers.
