Guruduwara Shri Khadur Sahib
Khadur Sahib is deeply associated with Shri Guru Angad Dev Ji, the second Sikh Guru. It served as the Guru's residence for 13 years and is the place where the Gurmukhi script was refined and popularized. The Guru established a school here to teach the script to common people, breaking the monopoly of the priestly class over education. Eight of the ten Sikh Gurus have visited this holy village, making it one of the most blessed locations in Sikh history. The main shrine, Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, marks the spot where Guru Angad Dev Ji spent his time in meditation and communal service. It was also here that Guru Amar Das Ji served the second Guru for 12 years, famously carrying water from the Beas River in Goindwal every day for the Guru's bath. The town is a model of environmental conservation today, thanks to the efforts of the local community and religious leaders who have planted thousands of trees. The atmosphere is distinctively academic and peaceful, reflecting its history as a center of learning. The Gurdwara complex is vast, featuring beautiful gardens and educational institutions that continue the Guru's legacy of "Vidya" (education).
