Hirni Falls

Khunti, Jharkhand, India
Hirni Falls is one of the most iconic waterfalls in Jharkhand, located on the edge of the Ranchi plateau. The waterfall is created by the Ramgarha River, which plunges down a sheer cliff into a deep gorge below. The surroundings are characterized by dense tropical forests that are part of the Sarand a forest range extension. As you approach the falls, the roar of the water becomes increasingly audible, creating a sense of anticipation. The state tourism department has developed a park and viewing galleries around the falls to facilitate visitors. A flight of stairs leads to the top of the hill, offering a panoramic view of the forest canopy and the river winding through the plains. The mist generated by the falling water keeps the surrounding area cool even during the summer months. It is a significant site for both its natural beauty and its ecological importance as a habitat for various bird species. The waterfall is a favorite weekend getaway for residents of Ranchi and Jamshedpur due to its easy accessibility.
