History Of Bahu Fort

Bahu Fort is a historic fort in Jammu that stands as a testament to the city's ancient history and the legacy of the Dogra dynasty. Built by Raja Bahulochan approximately 3,000 years ago, the fort has been renovated and modified by later Dogra rulers. The fort's location on a hilltop overlooking the Tawi River offers a panoramic view of the city of Jammu. The fort complex also houses a revered temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, known as the "Bahu Fort Temple" or "Bawe Wali Mata Temple." This temple is a major spiritual center for the locals, and thousands of devotees visit it, especially on Tuesdays and Sundays. The fort is not just a historical monument but also a symbol of the city's cultural and religious identity. The fort's massive walls, watchtowers, and well-preserved structures offer a glimpse into the military architecture of the past. The fort is surrounded by a beautiful terraced garden known as Bagh-e-Bahu.
