Baltal Valley

Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir, India
Baltal Valley is a breathtaking stretch of high-altitude meadow nestled alongside the Sindh River. Functionally, it is the actual starting point (trek point) for the 14 km climb to the Amarnath Cave, distinct from the entire base camp setup. The valley floor is covered in lush green pastures during the summer, surrounded by sheer, imposing mountain faces and fed by glacial streams. It is a stunning display of raw Himalayan landscape and offers a less crowded, more nature-centric experience outside the main pilgrimage months. It's a key staging post for all road travel heading towards Zojila Pass and Leh.
