Historical Significance of Deeksha Bhoomi: Deeksha Bhoomi is a world-famous pilgrimage site, particularly for Buddhists, situated in the heart of Nagpur. Its primary importance stems from the historic event on October 14, 1956, where Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Father of the Indian Constitution, formall y converted to Buddhism along with approximately 600,000 of his followers. This mass conversion was a powerful social and religious movement. The site is a potent symbol of social equality, religious awakening, and the rejection of the caste system. It attracts millions of pilgrims annually, especially during the Ashoka Chakra Pravartan Din (Dhammachakra Pravartan Din) celebrations. The monument, the Dhamma Chakra Stupa, is an impressive, monumental structure. The complex includes a Bodhi Tree grown from a sapling of the original sacred Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya.
