How to Reach

By Air: The nearest airport is Jubbarhatti Airport (SLV), located about 23 KMS from Shimla city center. Flights here are often limited and subject to weather conditions. A more reliable option is Chandigarh International Airport (IXC), which is approximately 115 KMS away and offers frequent connections to major Indian cities. From either airport, you must hire a pre-paid taxi or a private cab for the mountainous drive to Shimla, followed by a local taxi or walk to Annandale.

By Train: The nearest major broad-gauge railway station is Kalka (KLK), located about 96 KMS away. From Kalka, you board the famous UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla Toy Train. The slow, scenic journey (around 5-6 hours) terminates at Shimla Railway Station (SML). Annandale is about 2 KMS from the station.

By Road: Shimla is exceptionally well-connected by road, primarily via NH5. Direct state-run (HRTC) and private luxury buses run frequently from Delhi (approx. 350 KMS, 8-9 hours), Chandigarh (approx. 115 KMS, 3. 5-4 hours), and Kalka. Once you reach the main Shimla ISBT (or Tutikandi Bus Stand), you can hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw to cover the final distance to Annandale.

By Local Transport: Due to its location slightly downhill and away from The Ridge, the best local transport is an Auto-Rickshaw or a local Hired Taxi from The Mall Road or The Ridge (about 3 KMS). Many choose to take the scenic walk down, which is easy, but the walk back up is steep and challenging, making a local taxi advisable for the return journey, particularly for the elderly or those with luggage. :
